A Couple of “Sky Roars” and a Jet Comparison

The first video below was recorded in Nakskov, Denmark on March 14th. The second video is from a reader of this blog named Dee. It was recorded in Ancaster, Ontario on March 16th. The two videos have that weird pulsating that really doesn’t sound like a jet. Examples of sound types can be found here.

The witness of the Danish video says the sound lasted half an hour and started out very loud. It could be heard from inside with windows closed. They point out what I always say about these videos and that is the fact that real jet noise only lasts a few minutes. These weird “sky roars” last half an hour to two and even more.

Dee says the incidents are becoming more regular with hours roughly between 12:00 and 2:00am. A few weeks ago Dee posted a video but I didn’t write about it because it wasn’t very loud and they mentioned living near an airport. They say it’s not a jet. Dee claims it’s getting louder as demonstrated by this new video.

What Dee has done however is very useful and something no one has done before. They have recorded an actual jet flying by while the “sky roar” is happening. You can compare what a real jet sounds like along side an actual strange sky noise. I’ve posted the three videos in order so you can compare all three.

Mysterious Sooke Rumble is Back: This Time it Took Down an Old Barn

For those of you not familiar with this story I’ll synopsize posts from January regarding a mystery rumble in Sooke on Vancouver Island in British Columbia.

First I’ll start with the current story about an event that occurred March 15th.

Witnesses claim this wasn’t the same as the January rumbles in Sooke. They’re being experienced as blasts. Three blasts shook an area 8 kilometers outside of Sooke. Once again seismologists say an earthquake wasn’t to blame even though the area is on a fault line.

This time the rumbles brought down an old decrepit barn. I suppose it’s evidence that the blasts were very strong, however, the barn was in bad shape and probably the shaking just undermined the already crumbling structure.

A new business park being built nearby is possibly to blame, but keep reading below and you’ll see that last time it was blamed on blasting 40 miles away.

More information can be found in this article here.

——————

Sooke, Whidbey, Sequim, Skagit County, Tacoma

Before I list the events leading up to this one I’m including a “sky roar” video that for some reason is more popular than most of them. See here for sky noise types. I can’t understand why it’s so amazing since we have much better examples documented on this site. This one happened in Tacoma, Washington on March 13th. Ignore the buzzing. The sound is the constant jet roar. Tacoma is 65 miles as the crow flies. I have added these two events to our map to the right.

——————–

Jan. 23rd: A loud rumbling described as a freight train sound disturbs residents of Sooke. It wasn’t attributed to an earthquake.

Jan. 25th: Rumble is explained as industrial blasting, 40 miles away in Sequim, Washington.

Jan. 29th: What seems to be described as the constant jet noises we hear in our “sky roar” videos is covered in and article from Whidbey Island, Washington. Article here.

Feb. 9th: A video of a constant rumble surfaces from  Skagit County, Washington

March 15th: Mystery blasts cause rumbling that flattens an old barn and upsets residents. See video at top of post.

Don’t forget that although seismic activity was not recorded in any instance, these areas are near a fault line called the Cascadia subduction zone. See here.

The three original post are here, here and here.

Constant Jet Sounds Make Sudden Stops

Posted by Jay Man on March 13, 2012

Although I’m finding lot’s of these constant jet roar type videos, until now I only had one clear example of the sound suddenly stopping. A characteristic of these types of sounds is that it abruptly stops. See this post (here) for more information on types of sky noise.

This one below is from Oklahoma, March 8th. It’s clear and you can hear the sound shut off in the end. The witness claims it has happened before and only at night. It’s described, as are all of these types, as being like a hovering jet. She says it was very loud and felt like it was rattling her.

The next one is filmed in Hawaii on March 3rd at 7:00am. They say their girlfriend thought a plane was crashing and they could feel the vibration as it got louder and then suddenly stopped.

After the debunking of the Slovenia incident (here) being attributed to a power plant valve, perhaps sky roars are related to venting valves. I know this isn’t true because of the huge number of videos we have where the incident is nowhere near industry. But still, if it stops suddenly it suggests its being shut off. Valves are shut off to stop the flow of gas or steam. Just a thought.

Thunder or Sky Booms?

A witness in Woodbury, Minnesota heard loud booming sky noise they claim didn’t sound like thunder. They describe it as sounding like a war zone with powerful long-lasting explosions. They also say it was accompanied by flickering rather than flashing light in the sky. The presence of illuminated sky makes me think it’s probably thunder. It also lasted only a few minutes. I’m posting this because his reaction makes me think we aren’t hearing it the way he did. Obviously it freaked them out. I think he caught the end of it.

UPDATE 3/14:

From the comments:

I found your blog because I was searching for others in Woodbury who heard the same thing. There were six adults around our campfire on the driveway and nine children behind the house in the backyard playing on the swingset. All of a sudden we heard this super loud booming noise that seemed to rattle everything and lasted about 10-15 seconds. To me sounded like a tornado was coming or a plane was about to land on the house. I haven’t heard a sound like this before. The kids came tearing around the house saying a storm was coming and they saw flashing lights, even though it was a completely clear sky. I went inside with the kids but the adults outside said they heard it two more times while I was in there. Whatever it was it scared the kids enough that they wouldn’t come outside again.

Strange Sound in Edmonton, Alberta: A Giant Hydrovac?

Posted by Jay Man on March 12, 2012

An odd “stuck horn” sound was heard in Edmonton, Alberta on March 12th from 3:30am to 5:30am.

When I came across the first of these three videos I just figured it was industrial or construction noise. But then two more popped up all recorded by different people. For some reason the witnesses thought this was more than just construction noise. That’s what it sounds like to me, but I can’t totally dismiss it because three people thought it was loud enough and strange enough to take the time to record and post it to youtube.

In reading the YT comments I was able to determine where exactly the sound was heard and the approximate radius. Three areas were mentioned within a four mile radius. The areas are West Wood, Inglewood/Westmount and Kingsway. I’ve pinpointed these on a map. One thing that really puts this sky noise into doubt is its location right next to an airport. It’s suggested that it’s an excavating machine called a hydrovac  (see video below).

Although I feel this is some sort of machinery, here are the YT comments below anyway. You be the judge.

Live in West Wood area, heard this for several hours. Was almost deafening. Drive my dogs absolutely crazy… Anyone know what it was?

A buddy of mine near you sent me a vid this morning of the same sound. Very weird. Sounds like it could almost be an oversized hydrovac. He said it went on for over 2 hours.

This one below is the most intriguing comment:

This sound started at 3:30 am and lasted till 5:30 am. I walked my dog out around the area for over an hour to see what it was, and it seemed the sound was coming from the North West. A low rumbling sound..kind of like a large helicopter and over top of that sound is what you can hear the most..the high pitch “E”

Egg on My Face: Steel Mills, Palm Factories and Power Plants

UPDATE 3/9: Well, after sleeping on this I don’t know what to think. Shall I file all of the “sky dragon” videos as debunked? I’m willing to do this but I plan to keep an eye out for this type of sound anyway. A regular commenter named Panos had this to say which is partly a response to Scientific Method Man (see my post below and read his comments). SMM thinks I need to be careful because I’m perpetuating fear, as conspiracy sites point to my site as proof of the Apocalypse.

From the comments (a response to my post and Scientific Method Man from Panos):

I will dress up like the Scientific Method Man in order to make a point over here on the approach, not to suggest something else.. Wait a minute my friend Jay… you’re not following the scientific method over here :-)

“Apparently palm factories, steel mills and power plants do make the same sound when venting. Who knew.”

That is not correct. You have ONE video of ONE power plant in one place. This doesn’t mean that all plants of different nature use the same valves and make the same sounds.

So your conclusion is wrong and what you practically know is that just one power plant in Slovenia makes this type of sound, not all. Actually not even that. What you know is that someone claims this. ;-)

Further more, YT videos are not to be trusted because anyone can fake a video, so we have to make sure that this video is true and it is not a fake produced just for promoting a suggestion.

Do we have more videos? No

Do we have videos of other plants? No

Do we know this guy? No

Why others from other places didn’t report similar findings?

If this is not the first time, why all others say it’s the first time they heard this sound?

Why if the explanation is so simple and obvious, it didn’t come from an official source but from a guy walking in the middle of the night close to a factory?

Even if the video is real, why do we have so many late night steam valves going off lately?

In addition, watching the video and the picture of the plant posted below it, it looks to me that it may not be the same plant. In the pic the chimney has 3 red stripes of equal thickness while in the video has 2, a thicker and a less thick.

The perspective also of the guy approaching the plant is probably from the other direction of that of the photo but still the building don’t quite fit right. Sizes don’t match and I can’t find in the pic the wide lower building with the line of windows presented in the video.

Now again for making things clear. I do not suggest that the video is fake. On the contrary I like that we have such a video because it possibly clears a whole group of strange noises and narrows down the unexplained events.

What i want to point out is that jumping to conclusions goes both ways. And if someone wants to evaluate an event properly he should be skeptic on all explanations, even the logical and comforting ones…

My Comment: If we find more videos of this type of sound I plan to look to see if any factories are nearby, probably futile since the noise is heard widely.

————————————————————-

Looks like “sky dragons” are in fact venting valves. Case closed I guess. Link is HERE.

From the comments:

Hello to all of you who can’t seep at night thinking what these strange noises might be.

Well I will try to focus just on this event from Slovenia. Since I am from Slovenia and I infact live in Ljubljana, the city where these sounds were heard and recorded.

Firstly Jay you can set the believeability scale all the way up as I can confirm the sounds recorded are real.

Secondly I must dissapoint you all as these ‘dragon sounds’ as you call them are in fact really nothing more than a pressure relief valve going of at the Ljubljana thermal plant. And yes coincidentally right around midnight. While you’re backing up the believability of this event with twin videos, now you can back it up with tripple videos: http://24ur.com/novice/slovenija/sredi-noci-ropotalo-v-toplarni-moste.html

It’s one of our major news programe website and in the video you can actually see the thermal plant making the noise.
Believe me it’s not the first time the relief valve has gone off (I lived about 1km away from this plant for about 20 years).

All in all Slovenia case closed. Have a good night sleep.

Apparently palm factories, steel mills and power plants do make the same sound when venting. Who knew.

An Epidemic of Nighttime Industrial Venting: Sky Dragon in Finland

Posted by Jay Man on March 7, 2012

Filmed in Seinäjoki, Finland, March 6th in the middle of the night. Apparently the wee hours of the morning is the best time to vent power plants, palm factories and steel mills. Who knew.

The YT poster of this video says:

I never believed to hear those voices myself… but last night I did…

Well I think they did. Today they aren’t so sure. They updated the YT description with a “case solved”. A phone call to a local power plant claims they had to release some steam in the middle of the night. Nothing to see here.

This venting explanation is baloney. The regular sound is not a venting factory valve and I will tell you why.

Exhibit A:

The person recording this says the power plant had to vent steam. Look at these videos below of venting power plants. One is coal and the other is nuclear. They sound nothing like these repetitive blasts. I searched to find a factory valve that vents like this and these videos are all I could find.

Exhibit B:

1. No one has ever heard these sounds before and suddenly factories are venting in the middle of the night all around the world.
2. The above video sounds exactly like the Malaysia video. The above video was blamed on a venting power plant and the Malaysia event was blamed on a palm factory. Do venting palm factories and venting power plants sound the same? I doubt it.
3. The above video sounds exactly like the Oshawa event which is unexplained and was attributed to a steel mill venting in the middle of the night. This explanation was offered by a strange person who changed their story several times. The local news redacted their statement about the cause. Does a venting steel mill sound like a venting palm factory and a venting power plant. I doubt it.

So what do we have here in terms of this particular type of sky noise (sky dragon is my term, I made it up as a way to identify it):

1. These sounds occur in the middle of the night from roughly 12:00am to 5:00am in the morning.
2. People that hear it who may live near factories or power plants have never heard it before.
3. These sounds have been recorded since November and we have five examples as of today.
4. They seem to have a direction but not a definite source.
5. They are explained away. See exhibit A and B above.

To really understand the history and analysis of these very important sky events please read the following posts. If you have time that is because there are other posts that update these original articles. Links to:

UPDATE 3/8: This one is from Kazakhstan from yesterday. Is it a fake? You tell me. Shot at 5:36am. Are people onto the “venting valve” hoaxery now? Who knows.

UPDATE 3/8:

From the Scientific Method Man in the comments and my response:

….There has been an increase of videos on this topic on YT lately. This doesn’t automatically mean that they have never been heard before.

–The people recording these types of sounds claim to have never heard it before in all cases.

….I’m not an engineer, but perhaps both plants use the same type of cooling system?

–A palm factory is not a power plant. The local people of the Malaysia event vehemently deny it came from the factory in question.

….I’m not an engineer, but perhaps all three plants use the same type of cooling system?

–You are correct and I can’t prove that. But I suppose common sense says the three things would not relate due to the nature of the product….but then I suppose common sense can be flawed theory and I accept that. Making palm oil is not the same as making nuclear power is it.

….Perhaps a new way of venting their plants has recently been developed which reduces wear and tear significantly. It has been a recent development, so it produces a type of sound that has rarely been heard before. Are you up to date with progress in the world of factories?

–Maybe this is the case. I like this theory, it makes sense. A new form of venting. I’m not up to date nor an engineer.

….What do you think is the explanation for these sounds? Why do you think that your explanation is more plausible than the “venting plant” explanation? You don’t really want to stay at a “this is a strange sound, I don’t believe the ‘official’ explanation’, it must be something mysterious, but we will never know” stage, do you?

–I don’t know the explanation. I’m sure there is an explanation somewhere. Maybe it’s all a coincidence, a new venting system and “official” explanations should be accepted without question. I’m not saying official explanations are conspiracies. I’m saying that the officials may not know and it’s just a guess on their part. People don’t like unexplained things because it’s chaotic. I suppose I could look for heavy scientific essays to support my posts but then we would all be bored (I’m yawning thinking about it). Every time I read an article where some “scientists” claims to know the answer to strange sounds, we see an article refuting that article which is equally nonsensical. I’m like people from Missouri whose state motto is “Show me”.
