Not a whole lot of “strange sound” videos out there. Actually there are tons, but they are mostly fakes. They include full stereo overlays, copies of Kiev, copies of War of the Worlds, people recording things that cannot be heard, people recording machinery, people reposting really good examples from last year and claiming it just happened…and on and on. I was hoping the constant stream of bogus “strange sound” videos had stopped since last year, but no….

The most convincing recordings are the Sandy sounds. This is because they were recorded in three places by three people at the same approximate time. Hard to fake that. We’re paying close attention to this particular noise because it has no precedent.

Maybe There Really is a Post-Sandy Strange Sound, Maybe Not

This video below was shot in Illinois on November 6th and has the simple description of “Never hear this before, can someone tell me what it might be?”. They have no other related videos and no mention of HAARP anywhere. Initially I dismissed it as a siren but then my curiosity was piqued as I wondered whether it was similar to the Pre-Sandy sounds. It is a very poor recording obviously done on a cheap phone and if it was a fake they would have done a better job. I’ve compared it to all three Pre-Sandy videos below and maybe it is the same. It has a similar pitch and is constant. Maybe it’s a stretch but it’s now documented here. What can I say, there is nothing else out there to analyse.

Compare it to the Pre-Sandy sound in Toronto.

Trippy/Strange/Weird Clouds and Noise

This video below filmed in New Zealand on November 8th is a bit hard to describe. The author says “Clouds looked much more trippy/strange/weird than the footage makes out but what is that noise? There is no heavy traffic near by and cars don’t even sound like that haha plus it sounded like it was coming from above.”

If you turn up the volume and listen carefully about half way through you hear the Pre-Sandy sound. Compare it to the New York recording below it. At first I couldn’t tell what sound he was talking about and then I realized what it was. And also the clouds are completely natural and referred to as Cirrocumulus clouds.

No Strange Sound but Very Strange

This is unrelated but the most bizarre lightning I have ever seen. It looks kind of like sheet lightning but on crack. This video was recorded November 3rd somewhere in the US. The weird sky event caused the witness extreme anxiety. I can see why! This silent lightning went on for over three hours.

This video was recorded in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada on November 5th.

The post below this one (here) cites examples of a strange sound heard right before hurricane Sandy hit. This video from Moose Jaw sounds very similar. I find it very curious that the sound heard before Sandy is being heard in Canada after the storm. The witness says “We don’t have any alarms in our small city so we dont know what these are.”

UPDATE/INSERT: And this video below is why it’s impossible to separate the fakes from what’s real. A reader of this blog must have seen the above video and decided to create a stupid fake using the War of the Worlds soundtrack. Unfortunately some people without any knowledge of “strange sound” fakery will think this is real. Sad. If you follow this blog I have debunked almost all strange sound videos except for constant jet roar noise. I can smell a fake a mile away. If you fake videos I will do my best to expose your video as such. What if the pre- and post- Sandy sounds are real and what if they’re a warning. Is it possible the Sandy sounds are a result of the ever increasing extreme weather. If so this fake muddies our pursuit of meaning and truth about strange sounds. It won’t be funny if that ominous high-pitched sound becomes a regular occurrence.

He says in the description: “I was gonna tape me walking an out of nowhere this huge noise just came from the sky [snip] i also couldn’t hear the noise cuz for some reason i couldn’t hear the high pitched noise only the low thunder like sound and even then only for a minute an i had my head phones in to keep on beat.”

I will attempt to translate. I think he is saying he was taping himself walking while listening to music through headphones. Suddenly a loud noise came out of nowhere which he could hear as thunder through the music. He didn’t realize the high pitched sound was recorded until later. READ ON…

Pre-Sandy Sounds and Lights

This is a really interesting short video of a strange sound heard in New York before Sandy hit. The person who captured this strange sound said it could be heard all over the city. It is described as coming from the sky and ground and sounding like a machine with a constant hum. Very eerie!

And here it is again in Toronto.

And again here in an unknown location obviously not in the city. Kinda kills the wind through the skyscraper idea. Unfortunately this person reposts other people’s videos without sourcing the original with information. If you know the original source with info please post it in comments and I will replace it.

Item 1: Clintonville Boom Recording?

There isn’t much going on in terms of truly amazing strange sound videos but I do have some interesting tidbits to share. The first is an alleged Clintonville recording posted by an audio engineer who spent time there with the intent of capturing the sound. He claims to have met with the city officials who assisted him in his pursuit. Not everyone is buying his account. I would say with national attention he would be pretty ballsy to hoax this. Given no one with real credentials has been able to record this, I’m skeptical. Here is his explanation.

Item 2: Magnet Makes a “Strange Sound”?

Scientist have created a magnetic field 2 million times stronger than the Earth’s or 100 Tesla. It’s a tool for studying various materials. The sound is heard at 1:37 as they energize the magnet. The magnet vibrates with the electrical currents causing an audible noise.

Going to make a leap here and go back to this video from last month. Notice how this has a similar electrical magnetic sound. The post is here.

A reader Panos had this to say at the time I posted this:

The more we hear these sounds the more i get the feeling that they are the result of some electrostatic discharge. And the fact that they are quite different from one another also points to that direction.

i.e. if the discharge is in the clouds then you get the “sky roar”, if it is in the woods then you get a hissing sound and cracks, if it is from an urban/industrial area or from metallic structures you get more metallic sounds like this one..

I have no idea if there is a connection or even how it relates. The sound is similar though. Thanks for the tip Ines!

Giant Bees in the Sky? Strange Sounds in Fish Creek, Wisconsin, Jan 31

This “strange sound” in the video below was recorded January 31, by Mike Helms. It was witnessed at 4:00am, in a little town called Fish Creek, Wisconsin. Mike and his wife were vacationing in a hotel outside Peninsula State Park in Door County Peninsula. The recording was from their balcony facing the park. Fish Creek is on Fish Creek Harbor.

While looking for “strange sound” videos I initially dismissed this one. The reason was because it has title screens, doesn’t show the surroundings and has stereo sound (perhaps enhanced when edited). Mike left this video in the comments under my historical Yellowstone post here. He was interested in the article because it describes metallic sky sounds that occurred in 1893 in Yellowstone park. I theorize in the article that perhaps the sounds were related to small earthquakes. The area of Yellowstone where the sound events occurred is one of the most seismically active in the US. The sounds heard in 1893 were over a lake just as the Fish Creek incident was over a harbor. Both are large bodies of water.

Mike Helms from SongsofJesus.com describes what he heard in Fish Creek:

It sounded like super giant machinery in the sky and had an eerie ”metallic” sound that faded in and out.  Like some spooky movie soundtrack! It was massive in the sense of being expansive and seemed to fill the air, as if whatever was causing it stretched from east to west.

Mike left a link to his video in the comments. He says:

I’ve been trying to find info on metallic sounds (which is what we heard) and the article you found about Yellowstone is really, really interesting!… What’s really interesting is that we heard metallic sounds 6 hours after the quake at McHenry, IL. But even more so that we heard it in Fish Creek WI, which is in the Door County Peninsula – the Niagara Escarpment runs right through there and ends at the Wisconsin-IL border where the quake took place. Residents of North Battleford, Saskatchewan have recently reported hearing a “strange sound”. It had some people very upset and even Ian Hamilton, North Battleford’s mayor, heard the sound. He says “What I experienced was a scraping sound, like a snowplow.” Wow, it sounded like a snowplow!

In this snowy scene below, the witnesses are shown opening their door to an ominous trumpet. Not the kind we’re used to with the grand, reverberating horns heard in Edmonton and Conklin, Alberta. This strange sound is reminiscent of badly performed military taps here or a high school band practice room. Like this.

The witness exclaims that “It’s pretty f—–g freaky, I’ll tell you that.” She then goes on to advise us that the best Youtube video for sound quality is the Conklin one. I would say that’s true.

In this one below, the sound is heard in the distance and reminds one of 1990s new age music. I think it probably is the same sound as above. YT user lisapeteskin says “Cause it’s been heard all around the world !!! I’m not shitting you…”

Hollywood Couldn’t Have Done a Better Job: Family, Dog and Cockatoo Hear a Strange Sky Sound

From MönchenGladbach in NRW, Germany, on January 22nd.

If this isn’t real it’s very good theater. I have to be honest, if this is fake it makes me angry and I want people to stop. I haven’t seen a video in a while that gives me chills.

Picture the scene…a family in their cozy home on a Sunday evening. They have a cute little puppy named Benji who they’re trying to teach tricks. It’s a sweet scene that goes from domestic playtime to unexplained horror. Hollywood couldn’t have done a better job. Someone urging the puppy to roll over is interrupted by the family cockatoo that begins to flutter and fly about as if frightened. The mister in the film asks, “what is that droning?” He complains of the pipes making noise again and tells the person filming to be sure to record it as proof there’s a problem. Suddenly they realize it’s not the pipes afterall, but rather the sound is coming from outdoors. They open the door and the sound seems to enter the home like an unwanted visitor. Stepping outside to investigate, the witnesses are met with a loud sort of droning. They walk closer to the source and it seems to increase in volume. “Is it a plane?” they ask. Just as the cockatoo freaked out before, now Benji is whining. The man assures the dog it’s going to be okay. The end.

It has lots of jerky camera movements and good commentary. I don’t speak german so I can’t judge the sincerity of the witnesses. To me it sounds like a table saw cutting through thick wood. Yet somehow it doesn’t. They have provided us with translation bubbles. Another rare one here. We never see animals reacting and certainly a bird is not one I would expect to see. If this is real I don’t like it one bit.

plus: sound is definitely outside and coming from somewhere, it’s at night which maybe rules out construction, good commentary, a perfect length, dog and bird reacting.
minus: in a city where sounds can be anything, timing is very coincidental with recent events, follows my guidelines perfectly.

Conklin, Dawson Creek, and Beaver Lodge, Canada: Is There a Connection?

mapThe video below was just posted to YT. The event occurred in Dawson Creek, Alberta British Columbia, ten hours longitudinally from Conklin, Alberta. (see map). The witness seeks an explanation and claims it sounds like a low trumpet or giant low harp. You have to turn up the volume to hear this one but it sounds very distant in the video. The sound is very creepy. He is filming from his bedroom window which means it could be a recording in his bedroom. If he was going to fake it however, he probably wouldn’t mention this. Hard to say but it does sound atmospheric. I thought at first it was a car being revved, but listening carefully I don’t think it is. An alarm? Maybe but an alarm tends to be a repeating noise. Probably not fake but it could be anything. On YT he files under “News and Politics” with poor search tags. Start listening at 0:24 on the video.

This video below from Beaver Lodge, Alberta is just one of many that have been posted to SuperSamgordon’s YT channel since back in October. I’ve been following her videos and she seems very frustrated by what she hears. The sound happens a few hours at a time. She has tried repeatedly to figure it out and has several theories. You have to listen carefully and initially I thought this was just a sky roar but it actually sounds like something else, very faint. All connected? Not sure. Some fake and some not? Can’t say. Interesting to say the least. Watch out for fakers. I already found a video this morning that plays the exact Conklin sound dubbed over a video.

A Very Disturbing Sky Sound in Conklin Alberta: Jan 13

UPDATE 1/16 (2): I think we can conclude this post. My opinion is that this is a total hoax and a very good one. My verdict is that it’s a fake because it is without a doubt a direct copy of the Kiev sound video and the person who originally filmed it admits he brought his laptop to the woods. This is very disappointing and I find it very sad that what I believe to be an important real phenomenon happening today is basically made into a joke with the end result being fear and distrust.

WHAT IF some of the metallic sky sound videos are real. What if there is something very wrong in our world. What if those few real ones are ignored and dismissed as fakes. What if they are a message or a warning that could alter humankind’s destructive course.

Well thanks to total crap like the Conklin video we might miss a real opportunity to hear an important message, whatever that may be. Do read this entire post below as you may find the developments interesting.

This is really amazing. Just when I thought I would never see an impressive metallic sound video, here it is. Real or not it’s very impressive. Who are these people and what are they doing? They appear to be some sort of workers. The thing that makes this very significant is that there are actually people in the video. We have never seen this before.

I’ve never heard a metallic sound video so interwoven with the atmosphere. Listen to how it starts off with hissing, like a flame being lit, then grows into a loud roar. I’ve heard this sound before but not with this amount of detail. I watched their movements carefully and at certain points when it becomes suddenly loud they jerk their heads up to listen. This means the sound is not dubbed. At one point I think I can hear one of them say “craaayyy-Z”. They don’t look like the sort to create fakes and appear to be on official business. It’s getting weird out there. This is one that worries me.

UPDATE 1/13: After doing a little research they appear to be wearing logger helmets which makes sense. Conklin, Alberta appears to be in a remote forested area. Caution! This could be an elaborate hoax. It’s very convincing but take it as presented and be skeptical. Such a significant video is bound to be viral, meaning the person who owns it stands to make money.

UPDATE 1/13: After listening to this carefully and reading YT comments lets pick it apart a bit. Some say it sounds like Kiev? Does it? I’m not sure. It’s silent when the video starts, then the sound starts, after the sounds gets going we start to hear birds chirping. That’s strange because birds are chirping in the Kiev video. If you listen carefully you can also hear people talking at one point. Was it the loggers walkie talkies or people from the Kiev video? Why didn’t we hear voices before. One commenter says he did this type of logging work and he never heard that many birds. Someone thinks they are playing the video of Kiev on one phone and filming on another. I can’t seem to get the sound to line up with the Kiev. What do you think?

UPDATE 1/14: Because of the bird sounds, voices and lack of info or response from the YT poster, I’m downgrading this to not so believable. It has 50,000 hits on YT as 1/14. This site is getting hundreds of hits from people only hitting the Conklin post. It’s totally viral.  I will upgrade it on the scale if we get more info.

UPDATE 1/15: From the comments section on this post: I’m currently working 15 minutes from Conklin and I can tell you personally the video is not fake. I spoke to others who were out in the bush that day and heard the noise as well. There have also been strange sightings out here as well. There is a lot of oil and gas work going on around here.

UPDATE 1/15: THE PLOT THICKENS: Looks like YT user thegiftlaker “borrowed” this from user Super0371 and thegiftlaker has now credited him. Poor Super0371 is going to miss out on all that ad revenue since it has already gotten 200,000 hits. Super0371′s description is simply “Nuff said”. What is THAT supposed to mean? Here are his comments:

I uploaded this video thats how thegiftlaker got it….he may be better than me on computers cus i dunno how his upload of my video is gettin the views, but thats fine i know him anyways.

UPDATE 1/16: A commenter on this post has informed me that the men in this video are not loggers but “slashers”. A slasher is considered a seismic job. This is the definition I found: Seismic crews create hundreds of small earthquakes using explosives and other energy sources. These vibrations are precisely measured by specialized equipment to compile a three-dimensional map of the sub-surface rock formations and petroleum reservoirs. Slashers are hourly wage employees for oil companies and are responsible for the safe operation of chainsaws and other equipment. Huh…did they say hundreds of small earthquakes!

Debunking Metallic Scraping Sounds: The Unconvincing Kiev Video

Better grab some coffee or tea because this is a long post. If you’re interested in Kiev type sky noises, it’s worth your time.

The most famous metallic sound video on the internet with 1.6 million hits is the Kiev video from this summer. Since I started this blog one of the top search terms is “strange sounds in russia”. The sounds in this video have a big scare factor just like the War of the Worlds tripod sounds. Many commenters like to claim that it’s the “angels of the apocalypse” sounding their trumpets. Some think it’s a nearby dam that’s being stressed by high waters. Another theory is that it’s the venting of poisonous gases  from nuclear testing in underground tunnels. The list goes on and all of these explanation are pure speculation.

I will not be posting metallic sound videos anymore unless I feel that they offer us something different from the above. I think the video below is a mix of the Kiev sound and other sounds that I will outline after the jump.

Also, check out why this video above definitely has all of the characteristics of a hoax by reading my post about fakes. Let’s start by pointing out an admitted hoax similar to the Kiev sound.
