Well this is certainly confusing. Here is a video claiming the strange sound heard in NYC before Sandy was the wind going thru the top of the new Freedom Tower.
Wind through the Freedom Tower makes sense. The top is open allowing the strong hurricane wind to vibrate the beams. The architects had better hope the design of this building doesn’t make it a tuning fork.
So what are these two videos from Toronto and an unknown location not in the city about? Toronto has tall buildings but not as tall as Freedom Tower and I doubt any new construction is open at the top. Why would the sound, however subtle, be in a rural area.
It is not likely these two videos were faked given they were filmed during the storm. Maybe it’s a coincidence, maybe it’s warning sirens in the distance, maybe they are dubbed. Until another convincing Sandy sound video surfaces I’m calling this case closed.
Not a whole lot of “strange sound” videos out there. Actually there are tons, but they are mostly fakes. They include full stereo overlays, copies of Kiev, copies of War of the Worlds, people recording things that cannot be heard, people recording machinery, people reposting really good examples from last year and claiming it just happened…and on and on. I was hoping the constant stream of bogus “strange sound” videos had stopped since last year, but no….
The most convincing recordings are the Sandy sounds. This is because they were recorded in three places by three people at the same approximate time. Hard to fake that. We’re paying close attention to this particular noise because it has no precedent.
Maybe There Really is a Post-Sandy Strange Sound, Maybe Not
This video below was shot in Illinois on November 6th and has the simple description of “Never hear this before, can someone tell me what it might be?”. They have no other related videos and no mention of HAARP anywhere. Initially I dismissed it as a siren but then my curiosity was piqued as I wondered whether it was similar to the Pre-Sandy sounds. It is a very poor recording obviously done on a cheap phone and if it was a fake they would have done a better job. I’ve compared it to all three Pre-Sandy videos below and maybe it is the same. It has a similar pitch and is constant. Maybe it’s a stretch but it’s now documented here. What can I say, there is nothing else out there to analyse.
Compare it to the Pre-Sandy sound in Toronto.

plus: sounds genuine, person has no related posts on YT, bad recording, simple curiosity, no mention of HAARP, no label with the word “strange”, categorized under gaming (lol), he likes games. minus: Short, could be anything
Are they the same?
POST-SANDY
PRE-SANDY
By the way, perhaps I was too judgmental of the deleted video from Moose Jaw in the post below. Maybe she deleted it because she didn’t want the attention. It did seem real. The author had no other related videos.

Trippy/Strange/Weird Clouds and Noise
This video below filmed in New Zealand on November 8th is a bit hard to describe. The author says “Clouds looked much more trippy/strange/weird than the footage makes out but what is that noise? There is no heavy traffic near by and cars don’t even sound like that haha plus it sounded like it was coming from above.”
If you turn up the volume and listen carefully about half way through you hear the Pre-Sandy sound. Compare it to the New York recording below it. At first I couldn’t tell what sound he was talking about and then I realized what it was. And also the clouds are completely natural and referred to as Cirrocumulus clouds.

plus: person has no related posts on YT, apologizes for quality. minus: Mention of HAARP, label with the word “strange”, ran around Youtube asking people like Sheilaaliens to look at the video, has a user name with the word Aliens in it and seems hellbent on promoting it.
POST-SANDY You can really hear the similarity at the 20 second mark.

No Strange Sound but Very Strange
This is unrelated but the most bizarre lightning I have ever seen. It looks kind of like sheet lightning but on crack. This video was recorded November 3rd somewhere in the US. The weird sky event caused the witness extreme anxiety. I can see why! This silent lightning went on for over three hours.
UPDATE: This video was removed by author proving it was indeed a fake.
——-
This video was recorded in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada on November 5th.
The post below this one (here) cites examples of a strange sound heard right before hurricane Sandy hit. This video from Moose Jaw sounds very similar. I find it very curious that the sound heard before Sandy is being heard in Canada after the storm. The witness says “We don’t have any alarms in our small city so we dont know what these are.”
——-
UPDATE/INSERT: And this video below is why it’s impossible to separate the fakes from what’s real. A reader of this blog must have seen the above video and decided to create a stupid fake using the War of the Worlds soundtrack. Unfortunately some people without any knowledge of “strange sound” fakery will think this is real. Sad. If you follow this blog I have debunked almost all strange sound videos except for constant jet roar noise. I can smell a fake a mile away. If you fake videos I will do my best to expose your video as such. What if the pre- and post- Sandy sounds are real and what if they’re a warning. Is it possible the Sandy sounds are a result of the ever increasing extreme weather. If so this fake muddies our pursuit of meaning and truth about strange sounds. It won’t be funny if that ominous high-pitched sound becomes a regular occurrence.

And here in Calgary last night.
He says in the description: “I was gonna tape me walking an out of nowhere this huge noise just came from the sky [snip] i also couldn’t hear the noise cuz for some reason i couldn’t hear the high pitched noise only the low thunder like sound and even then only for a minute an i had my head phones in to keep on beat.”
I will attempt to translate. I think he is saying he was taping himself walking while listening to music through headphones. Suddenly a loud noise came out of nowhere which he could hear as thunder through the music. He didn’t realize the high pitched sound was recorded until later. READ ON…
This is a really interesting short video of a strange sound heard in New York before Sandy hit. The person who captured this strange sound said it could be heard all over the city. It is described as coming from the sky and ground and sounding like a machine with a constant hum. Very eerie!
And here it is again in Toronto.
And again here in an unknown location obviously not in the city. Kinda kills the wind through the skyscraper idea. Unfortunately this person reposts other people’s videos without sourcing the original with information. If you know the original source with info please post it in comments and I will replace it.
I’m usually careful about making any connections between UFOs and “strange sound” videos. I see no reason to make the leap because there is no evidence. This time however, it makes sense to at least mention it.
Gilbert, Peroria, Scottsdale
For some background on this, please see the post “Three of a Kind” here. We’ve documented two “strange sound” events in Gilbert, and one in Scottsdale, Arizona. These sky events make no sense because they’re different types of noises that have occurred in close proximity and approximate date.

Insert 1/13: Are they flares? Would any readers who are military people care to guess?
Insert 2: Well, here is the very famous Phoenix Lights video. These do the same thing as the video above. They appear and disappear in formation. This is from 1997. Were those flares too?
Insert 3: Here is the answer. From the comments:
I live in buckeye, az and I’ve seen these lights for the past 5 months south of the I 10. I am an air force vet and very familiar with the 16s that fly around here and the flares they discharge after flying their sorties. These lights r not flares or ball lightening because they are in formation. They appear as if on a dimmer switch and disappear the same. Strange. I don’t know what they r.

Now we have some more craziness in the area known as The Valley of the Sun, this time in Peoria, Arizona. A very convincing video of strange lights above this area has surfaced. These lights were seen February 9th and witnessed by several people. The lights can be seen clearly.
While hanging out with friends at an ice cream shop, the witness noticed what appeared to be a slow shooting star. The “star” changed directions. You can see in the video these aren’t meteors.
From the video description:
The video makes it hard to see, but all three of the objects had a short tail and were slowly drifting or “dancing” back and forth. I was freaking out and inadvertently drawing a lot of attention (as can be heard in my video). There were other witnesses in the parking lot, a couple of ladies are seen asking us what they were in the video. Before I started filming, another group of people wrote off the objects as being, “just meteors”. The objects clearly were not meteors.
“I just thought maybe there was something catastrophic that was going to happen, no warning, no nothing so it was kind of pretty frightening,” said Von Hurst.
The noise started at 7:00am and lasted 20 minutes and was described as a hissing noise like hot air balloons, or standing behind a JET plane. The news claims the source was from a nearby hydro turbine power plant and they’re pleased to remind you they figured it out. The company actually issued a statement saying a unit went offline and vented steam that made a loud noise.
Mr. Hurst actually recorded the sound on his phone. I looked hard for this recording on Youtube but I suppose it’s now property of the news station. Unfortunately, the drone of the newscaster only allows us to hear two seconds of the recording. But that’s enough for me because it sounds like a “sky roar” (see example here). The power plant is half a mile away according to the news. Mr. Horst says it sounded like it was right on top of his house. This is a common statement made by many people who’ve experienced this type of sky event. A witness says the same thing about house hovering here.
Would a power plant venting steam really be that loud from half a mile away? You can tell by the video in the news piece that it’s very loud. I’m skeptical. What’s up with all this loud industrial venting going on anyway, like here. I don’t buy it. Why doesn’t the news let us hear the sound instead of chatter. (I don’t mean a conspiracy, I mean why can’t they shut up so I can hear it!) The news explanation is perfectly reasonable, but if you’ve been following this blog you know that we’ve been seeing a lot of examples of “sky roars”. See a lesson on types here.
_______
INSERT 1/8: FROM BOB IN THE COMMENTS: I think there might be something to this phenomena and all, but I’m not sure it´s such a good idea to start thinking doubting so much official explainations, it’s a sure way to become a paranoid nutjob. Like “why doesn’t the news run a full minute of the audio live” etc…Everything will start to seemingly point to conspiracy and menace, I’ve been there many times in the past, not a great place to go…Anyway, great work on the site.
MY RESPONSE: Good point, however, the media comes up with lame excuses just to prove they have the answers. They are not to be trusted. Like the dubbed video in the Costa Rica incident and some of the stupid things they come up with involving sky booms here and here. Look at the Oshawa redacted statement from the news here. They have lot’s of power and can start wars. People don’t like open ended arguments so they grab any explanation. Hell, look at all the videos they’ve shown using sky noise I’ve proven to be fake. The media doesn’t purposely distort, but I don’t think they have all the answers. As far as Malaysia goes I don’t not believe the researchers but it’s the people that don’t agree. As a result of documenting this stuff we have the exact same sounds in Sweden and Oshawa.
So it’s not about conspiracy, it’s that the media makes shit up to get viewers. They couldn’t have very well shown the video Mr. Hurst produced and said “well this is odd.” No they must come up with an answer, otherwise it’s chaos. I’m not here to say if it’s true or not, but often their excuses have holes and common sense tells you things don’t make sense. So to repeat, no conspiracy, just grabbing anything they can grab. Now for the purposes of this site being a journal, often another incident will occur contradicting them. So we shall see.
Filmed by a lad in Ireland by the name of McShane in County Armagh, Ireland, January 19th. The Unidentified Audible Object (UAO) lasted 15 minutes and according to a comment left by him, he says while he was at work his wife heard it again the next day.
Well, this one is a stumper. I’ve watched it a few times and it actually sounds somewhat convincing. This one features an obnoxious sound akin to a loud boiling tea kettle from hell (which it could be). He certainly did film it correctly with commentary, surroundings and length. This UAO is quite atmospheric and seems to genuinely move about.
The video has one thing that got my attention. He pans over toward a group of people in the distance who I think are outside listening to the sound. This is very rare and valuable evidence. Of course they could just be hanging out. At one point he says the dogs are going crazy, in fact, I can hear dogs barking. That’s very good. What is very bad about this video is the title screen, this means that he edited it, which means sound could have been added. I won’t dismiss this however, because he seems to have been somewhat creative in his past unrelated videos. The other very suspicious thing about this is that its timing with current events is a bit too coincidental. He’s very aware of sky sounds which raises my suspicion but I can’t use that as criteria anymore. Everyone seems to know.
Another interesting twist to this video is that a YT user by the name of omaghman2 has analyzed this video with the software Adobe Auditions. After removing background noise, the video says the UAO is made up of five frequencies. Does this mean there are five different sounds happening? Any sound experts reading this post care to guess?
McShane has posted a video of his theories about what it could have been here. It’s a bit long and winding but I watched him carefully. Either he’s a great actor or he’s telling the truth. I appreciate the fact he’s willing to show his face.

plus: atmospheric sound that seems to move, good commentary, other witnesses, a perfect length, dogs reacting minus: in a city where sounds can be anything, title screen and edited video, timing is very coincidental with recent events
A mystery signal appears to be jamming remotes for garage doors in a tiny community in Colorado. It’s unknown what is causing this but some speculate it’s military communication equipment. Small objects can jam signals but not over a half mile radius. More info here.
It is believed that HAARP can jam communication frequencies. For what HAARP is please see this post for more info. I doubt this is the case but it’s food for thought.
A RANT: I can’t understand why pea-brained, wink, wink newscasters have to make light of anything that can’t be explained. I suppose it’s fear of the unexplained or fear of being on the side of people that believe things aren’t always explainable. The purpose of the media seems to be about instilling fear in people on a daily basis, then offering them reassurances that they should be trusted to provide the answers. Just like the below post about mystery sky booms where they will latch on to any lame explanation just to prove they have the answers. We can’t go through life believing everything we’re told and not thinking critically. If we blindly believe that everything we’re told is true, then we will believe that jumping off a cliff won’t hurt us.
I have been avoiding the ufo/strange sound phenomena connection because there is absolutely no proof that these occurrences are ufo related. However it seems that many people believe that there is indeed a connection. The obvious reason I assume is that they both exist in the sky.
Let’s focus on the black triangle ufos that have been spotted since the forties. If you do a YT search on these types of sightings many videos will come up. Many are fake, some I think are real.
Recently the black ufos have been appearing around Lee’s Summit, Missouri. I sometimes go to the mufon site (Mutual UFO Network) just to see what people post. Mufon is a chapter driven organization that allows people to post their sightings. In October there were 80 plus sightings of this black triangular ufo and people are still seeing them. Here is a news video about it.
Note the typical, close-minded, smug reaction of the newscasters. It wouldn’t matter if a ufo fell on their desk they would still take that “can you believe this crap, haha” attitude. Although there have been tons of unexplained sighting being Continue Reading
UPDATE 11-30-11: Video was removed from YT by user. Hmmm…
This is probably what it’s like when a person has a bad case of tinnitus. This was filmed at night in Malvern, Pennsylvania. The sound comes and goes and seems to have no direction. He also mentions a small oil facility nearby but pretty much dismisses the idea. He has recorded the sound three days in a row, here and here are the others. The guy that filmed it speculates that it might be HAARP. For those of you that don’t know what that is, I have provided a link to the HAARP FAQ page.
From the HAARP website FAQ page.
“HAARP stands for The High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program. The goal of this program is to further advance our knowledge of the physical and electrical properties of the Earth’s ionosphere which can affect our military and civilian communication and navigation systems. The HAARP program operates a world-class ionospheric research facility located in Gakona, Alaska.” Continue Reading
