Well this is certainly confusing. Here is a video claiming the strange sound heard in NYC before Sandy was the wind going thru the top of the new Freedom Tower.
Wind through the Freedom Tower makes sense. The top is open allowing the strong hurricane wind to vibrate the beams. The architects had better hope the design of this building doesn’t make it a tuning fork.
So what are these two videos from Toronto and an unknown location not in the city about? Toronto has tall buildings but not as tall as Freedom Tower and I doubt any new construction is open at the top. Why would the sound, however subtle, be in a rural area.
It is not likely these two videos were faked given they were filmed during the storm. Maybe it’s a coincidence, maybe it’s warning sirens in the distance, maybe they are dubbed. Until another convincing Sandy sound video surfaces I’m calling this case closed.

What a horrible building rather. They should just have rebuilt the Twin Towers.
Well, I’ve been in different hurricanes and that sound is ‘sometimes’ usual. Sometimes you can hear the wind as if there were an airport close.
I heard strange sounds at night between 2000 and 2010, they were huge explosions without light or anything more that sound. I was scared. My house was shaking, I thought that was a bomb or something like that. “Is this a war? What I’m going to do with my life”, I said to myself.
Then the sounds continued, and I felt more and more scared… There were really loud sounds, like thunders, but in the ground. Does it makes sense? Underground thunders?
I live in the same city (near Ciudad de Buenos AIres, Argentina) since my childhood, and I can swear that these sounds are something that I never knew of.
This happened five to ten times between these years, as I said. In 2012 I didn’t hear anything special, which is funny, because everybody is talking about it now!

Why are all your videos labeled pre and post-sandy? This sound has nothing to do with Sandy. It’s been happening for over a year. I apologize if I’m missing something but I’ll read your blog in more detail later for clues. I didn’t know if I should believe the sounds were real until I heard it for myself last night. Northeast US Feb 23rd at 1:00 am. There was no cars, no aircraft and no wind. Furthermore it sounded unlike anything I’ve ever heard except some of these youtube videos, especially those filmed in Winnepeg and Saskatchewan Jan 2012. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to record it but I will if I ever hear it again. It also has nothing to do with skyscrapers. I live 90 miles from the nearest skyscraper.
Ive heard it every single night for at least the past year. Nothing to do with skyscrapers…still as you all say its nothing ive ever heard of. It reminds me of that movie “close encounters of the third kind”
Toronto has some pretty tall buildings, i’m pretty sure some as tall or taller than the freedom tower, the CN tower is still the 3rd tallest building in the world if i’m not mistaken
