Item 1: Clintonville Boom Recording?

There isn’t much going on in terms of truly amazing strange sound videos but I do have some interesting tidbits to share. The first is an alleged Clintonville recording posted by an audio engineer who spent time there with the intent of capturing the sound. He claims to have met with the city officials who assisted him in his pursuit. Not everyone is buying his account. I would say with national attention he would be pretty ballsy to hoax this. Given no one with real credentials has been able to record this, I’m skeptical. Here is his explanation.

Item 2: Magnet Makes a “Strange Sound”?

Scientist have created a magnetic field 2 million times stronger than the Earth’s or 100 Tesla. It’s a tool for studying various materials. The sound is heard at 1:37 as they energize the magnet. The magnet vibrates with the electrical currents causing an audible noise.

Going to make a leap here and go back to this video from last month. Notice how this has a similar electrical magnetic sound. The post is here.

A reader Panos had this to say at the time I posted this:

The more we hear these sounds the more i get the feeling that they are the result of some electrostatic discharge. And the fact that they are quite different from one another also points to that direction.

i.e. if the discharge is in the clouds then you get the “sky roar”, if it is in the woods then you get a hissing sound and cracks, if it is from an urban/industrial area or from metallic structures you get more metallic sounds like this one..

I have no idea if there is a connection or even how it relates. The sound is similar though. Thanks for the tip Ines!

Booms are Back in Wisconsin

City administrator Lisa Kuss says the booms returned last night with more intensity. I admire this lady for her calm and professional handling of this event. She should run for congress.

Kuss offered three reasons why there’s so little data on the Clintonville rumblings:

  • The smaller the magnitude of a quake, the harder it is to find the activity picked up by monitors
  • The farther the activity is from monitors, the less likely it is to be picked up
  • The more outside noise and interference, such as Tuesday night’s strong winds, make it more difficult to detect the activity on the monitors

The USGS says these small quakes are harmless and will diminish over time and it has something to do with slow releasing earth stress.

Residents seem skeptical, this is from the article comments:

Last night’s was the loudest and strongest (I live on the north side of Clintonville) and this has a lot of people rattled, literally and figuratively. My own opinion is that the city officials are putting the budget before safety concerns.

It is speculated in many articles that the dry winter has caused a low water table. This causes gaps in the granite under Clintonville thus allowing rocks to settle.

AN ASIDE

I’m sure this has nothing to do with the booms but look at this article from 2009 here. It’s very interesting and apparently the future of things. The government has set up an experiment where they blast neutrinos (link to wiki definition here) under Wisconsin starting in Illinois and ending in Minnesota. It’s described as a sort of pitcher and catcher set up. The Minnesota end is 5,500 tons of solid iron in an abandoned mine. The other end is a Government lab outside Chicago. The article says they do “violent things with tiny particles.” They beam neutrinos across the state underground in a straight line.

Also of note is an experiment by the University of Rochester which has successfully transmitted a message through stone using a beam of neutrinos.

Different Sounds, Opposite Ends: Strange “Annoying” Sounds in Kerry and Derry

I’ve been following the story of unexplained noise in Kerry and Derry since last month. For background you should read this post here. Kerry and Derry are on the opposite ends of Ireland with Derry to the north and Kerry to the south. They’ve been experiencing completely different sounds that are described as “annoying”. What’s particularly odd in my opinion is that they’re completely different types of noise. One is described as sounding like a helicopter and the other as being more like a hum. It seems weird that Ireland is experiencing two different unexplained disturbances in opposite areas at the same time. I’m not sure what this means if anything.

In Kerry a local news piece here says:

Deputy Healy-Rae said that people were being disrupted by the “very unusual and very annoying” noise and that one family in particular were “driven demented” by it.

One gets a mental image of a family being taken away in a paddy wagon.

Having begun last April, people as far as 25 kilometer have reported hearing it. The local government there is taking it seriously. This is very much like the Windsor hum, see here. According to the article the noise can’t be recorded, but finally someone has recorded audio waves and replicated the sound.

For the first time we have not only a video of a local resident describing the mystery noise, but also a replication of the hum. Barry Lynch says he doesn’t believe it’s supernatural.

Below is a video of the hum. Apparently the audio waves can be recorded but they’re so low frequency it’s very hard to hear. What you’re hearing is a “replica”.

So this brings us to Derry, it’s an odd coincidence how they rhyme. They’re not hearing a “hum”. Their nuisance comes in the form of what’s described as an aircraft noise occurring at night. No one is taking blame and no one can see an airplane. They have ruled out local commercial flights and geological survey planes. The government there is also taking it seriously.

Not Your Typical “Sky Roar”: Strange Sound in Fort Worth

I must say if this is real I don’t like it one bit. It’s very loud and while it sounds kind of like a constant jet roar it’s a lot more intense.

Filmed March 23, the witness says it usually occurs at night but this time it was heard in the morning. The previous night it lasted over an hour. He says he lives near a military base and thinks this might be experiments. He says it’s louder than most noises they hear and it’s not like a fly over. A friend heard it two miles away.

This is a cross between the constant jet noises we hear and a real rumble. See here for a definitions. I noticed a spike in searches for “Dallas strange sounds” over the past few days and now I know why!  I consider this proof that something definitely was heard in the area. There were probably 100 search hits. I can often tell if something is up by looking at this data. Then I look for videos based on the locations in the search.

What’s up with the end where the sound changes from background noise to pure roar then back again? Is this a feature of cameras to allow loud sounds to come forward and drown out background noise. Then return when the noise is gone? Any sound people out there know the reason for this?

Notice at the 3:47 mark how the sound stops abruptly. Then we hear a car cranked. It’s great to be able to compare the noises to get a sense of how atmospheric it is.

I did a post on strange sounds in Dallas last month, see here and here. The constant jet roar videos from then don’t compare to this one. People were hearing other strange sounds at that time as well. Details are in the posts.

UPDATE 3/24: Living near a military base would seem to indicate military experiments and I could have easily dismissed it as such. However they claim it’s was louder than ever and not like a plane flying over, but more constant. It must be a new type of experiment and I would imagine it’s a real nuisance being heard over two miles away. Also this sound would keep me awake if it often happens at night. If he lives near a base and hears this all the time why would he bother recording it. The other reason I posted it was the spike in search terms meaning that something loud was heard and caused people to go to the internet to search for information.

This video below was sent to someone who regularly posts videos about UFO stuff.

While I seriously doubt the video below is a UFO (it could also be a reflection on the window), it was recorded around the same day as the strange noise. It shows a craft of some sort flying faster than a regular jet. It’s right above Fort Worth. This would lead me to believe there might be some sort of super loud experimental craft being tested. The shape is pretty close to some of the new drones they have flying around but they wouldn’t fly that fast (I don’t think). I wonder if it is a military jet if it wouldn’t have caused a sonic boom at that speed.

Booms Now Heard 80 miles away in Montello, Wisconsin

Mystery booms are now being heard in Montello, Wisconsin, a town 80 miles south of Clintonville. Is it spreading?

And something stinky in Fond du Lac. Is it related? Probably not but the link here.

I’m the Joseph Clauson mentioned at the top of this page. The whole experience has been crazy! No one can explain what it is so far and I myself have not heard/felt it sine between 4-5 PM Tuesday afternoon! It was heard and felt by a few neighbors later than that, but with only getting 7 hrs of sleep the first two days this has been going on. I slept from 7 PM to 10 AM Wednesday. Day 2 of this wasn’t as frequent as Day 1, but more intense. I just thought I’d give you all an update from my view. Also there are a few factories here that work with lead and steal, but I’m not sure of what else may be used at other factories in the area.

UPDATE 3/22: As of 7:00pm EST, the USGS believes the mysterious booming noises in Clintonville were caused by a magnitude 1.5 earthquake. It has to do with the type of rock in their area causing noises as it shifts. Earthquakes aren’t common there so this wouldn’t have been heard before. Link here.

See…no “trumpets of doom” were involved. Yay! I’m kidding.

Strange Sounds and Where We are Today (READ THIS POST DARN IT!)

skyI like to think this site is useful and informative. While I’m often accused of scaring people, my answer is that if you pay attention you will find I try to debunk them. On occasion I succeed or come very close. I get caught up in the drama of these videos at times but I always try to pick them apart. Since being criticized for denying official explanations, I’m trying even harder to be neutral. I may not always succeed but I try.

If I’m guilty of anything it’s presenting them at all and some people think we souldn’t talk about it because obviously it’s somehow mean to do so and will lead simple minds to ruin (sarcasm here).

What scares people is not the posting of videos in a list. Many websites do this. The fear is created in rationally discussing them. They aren’t easily dismissed when someone tries to pick them apart and make connections no matter how shakey. My biggest problem is that people don’t read the posts and only play the videos. The other big problem is that people will use my site as proof of the apocalypse, this has happened with the Clintonville case. I won’t name names.

Some of the videos can’t be explained easily and I’m limited to information available. They will remain a mystery but does this mean they’re supernatural? Certainly not! I have never said they were.

So, that said, I’ll show you how this site is actually useful in helping answer fears. This is going to make a lot of people mad who don’t want to accept the evidence. See a lesson in types (here) before reading further.

ABSOLUTELY TRUE BUT UNEXPLAINED

Booms: These reports are all supported by multiple accounts and news videos or articles. Why this is happening is beyond the capabilities of this blog. Some are explained as earthquakes and some are explained as meteors. They are earth and sky sounds. In some cases they don’t register on seismic monitors in any way. Does this mean they aren’t natural. There are always natural and manmade explanations being offered. This type is presented here for their being interesting and notable. I present the facts only, but try to make connections between incidents.

DEFINITELY DEBUNKED.

Kiev type sounds: The Kiev video from last summer started it all. Then came the copy cats. I devoted an article debunking Kiev before “strange sound” videos became the fad du jour. I gave reasons why it isn’t real but unlike the copy cats I can’t one hundred percent debunk it. Look at my debunking video link below and decide.

Then came the copy cats. The big scare came from a hoax in Conklin, Alberta. Some guys having fun decided to play the Kiev sound in the background while standing in the woods. It freaked everyone out. Then after people studied the video it became clear that it was a copy. Shortly afterward a slew of these dubbed videos appeared on the internet. Hoax after hoax was churned out with exactly the same sound. Then to make matters worse someone was running around a small town in Canada playing some sort of lame ass horn that freaked everyone out even worse. The news picked it up and did a story based on hearsay. Thanks to Shielaaliens she proved the videos were copies of the Kiev video sound (link below).

Strange Sounds in Wisconsin: Rattling Pipes, Clanging Metal, Thunder or Firecrackers…huh?…

…that’s the way some residents of Clintonville, Wisconsin described the unexplained noises they heard early Sunday into Monday morning. The sounds seem to have affected only an eight-block radius where ground shaking was also felt.

All public utilities were checked and nothing unusual was found. According to these article from fox11online, cnn and JSOnline here, here and here, the sounds are all over the place in terms of the witness accounts.

Very interesting descriptions from the news articles:

“It was kind of like constant boom, boom, boom!” said resident Joseph Clauson. “And you could feel like the ground shaking beneath you and whatnot.”

“It almost felt like a heavy duty thunderstorm, but it was shaking though,” said resident Al Miller.

The sounds — variously described as rattling pipes, clanging metal, thunder or firecrackers — have continued on and off since early Sunday night in just one part of the small town of 4,600, located about 180 miles northeast of Madison.

Jolene VanBeek, who lives on Lincoln Ave., said she first heard a loud sound – like a sonic boom or two trains coupling – about 9:30 p.m. Sunday night.

“We thought neighbors were slamming their doors super hard,” she said Monday. “It was a loud noise and then shaking.”

There have been many incidents of strange rumblings in unlikely places recently. I haven’t been posting these accounts because there are so many and they’re all unexplained. I have included this incident because of the bizarre witness accounts. Since this seems to be affecting a small area, I suspect the source will be discovered. If not it’s just another mystery noise.

UPDATE 3/20: The noises appear to have intensified overnight and are spreading. They’re reexamining the water system.

Scientists are telling Kuss that this is not seismic activity. It is not related to a local dump and it is not being caused by the sewage treatment plant on the river. It is not being caused by military activities, blasting, quarrying or sand and gravel mining, Kuss said.

The city of Clintonville set up audio and video recorders overnight Wednesday but didn’t capture anything. There was at least one loud boom at 5 a.m.

UPDATE 3/21 #3: This has now made national news. Probably the first time this has happened since I started documenting these events. If they can’t find it yet and have ruled out all possibilities with experts, I wonder if they will. Remember, there have been tons of these booms all over the country that haven’t been explained. Most made the local news stations. The big difference here is that the booms are recurring over days. This hasn’t happened before with most events being single or multiple booms in minutes. Here’s a weird one for ya.

Filmed in Fresno, California on March 17th, the witness says it was coming from the sky. They claim to live nowhere near a military base and said it happened all day while raining. This is definitely one of the stranger ones we’ve heard. Why isn’t this in the news!

It sounds atmospheric and distant like shots being fired. It’s not an overlay and seems interwoven with the environment and rain. What could make these booms with this rhythm for an extended period?

The fact this is happening in the rain is curious. Is this untimely beautiful weather we’re having causing these boom sounds somehow. There is some speculation the Clintonville sounds could be caused by the warm weather. The higher than normal temperatures could be causing the earth to thaw deep underground. Article here.

From the article:

“We did have some cold weather earlier in the winter, which would’ve caused ice to freeze at considerable depth,” he explained.  “The warm weather could melt ice and relieve stress, causing movements and adjustments of some rock.”

That may be true for the north but would it apply in Fresno.

Here is the “twin” that isn’t quite as rhythmic. It was filmed 15 minutes north of Fresno on March 18th. Note the rain. They say they drove around looking for the source.

There is a suggestion it’s a hail cannon (see here)  They’re designed to prevent hail from forming by producing an explosive shock wave. Some farmers supposedly use these and there is much evidence they do nothing.

A Couple of “Sky Roars” and a Jet Comparison

The first video below was recorded in Nakskov, Denmark on March 14th. The second video is from a reader of this blog named Dee. It was recorded in Ancaster, Ontario on March 16th. The two videos have that weird pulsating that really doesn’t sound like a jet. Examples of sound types can be found here.

The witness of the Danish video says the sound lasted half an hour and started out very loud. It could be heard from inside with windows closed. They point out what I always say about these videos and that is the fact that real jet noise only lasts a few minutes. These weird “sky roars” last half an hour to two and even more.

Dee says the incidents are becoming more regular with hours roughly between 12:00 and 2:00am. A few weeks ago Dee posted a video but I didn’t write about it because it wasn’t very loud and they mentioned living near an airport. They say it’s not a jet. Dee claims it’s getting louder as demonstrated by this new video.

What Dee has done however is very useful and something no one has done before. They have recorded an actual jet flying by while the “sky roar” is happening. You can compare what a real jet sounds like along side an actual strange sky noise. I’ve posted the three videos in order so you can compare all three.

Mysterious Sooke Rumble is Back: This Time it Took Down an Old Barn

For those of you not familiar with this story I’ll synopsize posts from January regarding a mystery rumble in Sooke on Vancouver Island in British Columbia.

First I’ll start with the current story about an event that occurred March 15th.

Witnesses claim this wasn’t the same as the January rumbles in Sooke. They’re being experienced as blasts. Three blasts shook an area 8 kilometers outside of Sooke. Once again seismologists say an earthquake wasn’t to blame even though the area is on a fault line.

This time the rumbles brought down an old decrepit barn. I suppose it’s evidence that the blasts were very strong, however, the barn was in bad shape and probably the shaking just undermined the already crumbling structure.

A new business park being built nearby is possibly to blame, but keep reading below and you’ll see that last time it was blamed on blasting 40 miles away.

Sooke, Whidbey, Sequim, Skagit County, Tacoma

Before I list the events leading up to this one I’m including a “sky roar” video that for some reason is more popular than most of them. See here for sky noise types. I can’t understand why it’s so amazing since we have much better examples documented on this site. This one happened in Tacoma, Washington on March 13th. Ignore the buzzing. The sound is the constant jet roar. Tacoma is 65 miles as the crow flies. I have added these two events to our map to the right.

Jan. 23rd: A loud rumbling described as a freight train sound disturbs residents of Sooke. It wasn’t attributed to an earthquake.

Jan. 25th: Rumble is explained as industrial blasting, 40 miles away in Sequim, Washington.

Jan. 29th: What seems to be described as the constant jet noises we hear in our “sky roar” videos is covered in and article from Whidbey Island, Washington. Article here.

Feb. 9th: A video of a constant rumble surfaces from  Skagit County, Washington

March 15th: Mystery blasts cause rumbling that flattens an old barn and upsets residents. See video at top of post.
