Looks like people are really focusing on Zug Island as a source of the Windsor Hum. Zug Island is right across the water from Windsor. This video below has an excellent example of the sound that’s been boosted to allow us to hear it. There’s little interest by the governments of Canada or the US to do anything about this nuisance. This is because of economic and political reasons. If you don’t know the history read this post here and here.
This video below is pointed directly at Zug Island and he says the camera doesn’t do a good job of recording the vibration. I’m not sure what I’m hearing. He says people are complaining about lack of sleep, migraines, dizziness, concentration problems, earaches and nausea. I believe this because if you’re exposed to a vibration you can actually feel in your body all the time, it would have to have some sort of effect. He says it’s getting louder and has become more distinct over the last two years.
I find it interesting that the area it’s supposedly coming from is a high security area under Homeland Security. Now why would that be? What are they making there. No one knows but I bet it isn’t good. It even has strict limitations on filming.
Something that makes no sense to me is why aren’t people complaining on the US side. If this “hum” is coming from Zug Island then why is it just affecting Windsor. I think the most important question is why is it getting louder? If it’s coming from industry did they increase power to the machines or did they add more? Makes no sense.
Why is this a big deal? I have no idea but some people think it is. Last night the Academy Awards was plagued by some sort of strange digital feedback that increased as the show progressed. The noise went on for two hours and for some reason they couldn’t fix it. I guess we expect one of the most important and watched shows in the US to have a working sound systems.
My favorite theory espoused by conspiracy sites is that it’s some sort of mind control. This is hysterical in more ways than one. Did it work? Anyone out there feeling different today after having watched it?
I can’t embed this so you have to go to the site and wait for commercials. Once you have patiently watched the ad, forward the video to the 1:45 mark. Listen carefully and you can hear it. It sounds sort of like digital blips. Link is here or click image. (Insert: Some of you say you can’t watch it for some reason. Here is the address to type in: http://www.bing.com/videos/watch/video/2012-oscars-highlights/58tkuby So far it’s the only site I can find that has the Oscars highlights. You may have restrictions in your country.)

Okay, you must be wondering why I’m talking about this because it’s clearly just a malfunction in the sound equipment. Well maybe you’ve seen the below video from Tropicana Field in Florida from last August. It too freaked out the internet because the sound was so strange. It was blamed on lightning striking the audio equipment. Of course many people don’t believe this.
Think about how weird it is that we live in a time when malfunctioning audio equipment freaks people out. Why is this? Why are we so distrustful nowadays? Can you imagine even ten years ago people being so freaked out by such things. What has changed? Is it millennial angst?
Could “sky roars” be experimental aircraft? A link to a “sky roar” example is here.
As you can see below, experimental jets can actually hover and they’re also loud. This Lockheed Martin F-35B Lightning II can take off and land vertically. It can also hover. Cool.
For this theory to make any sense the jets would also need to be invisible. An interesting video below about how an invisibility cloak might work.
And this video below shows how it might look if you possessed an invisibility cloak. Just think of the naughty things one could do if you had one of these. Think of all the naughty things an aircraft could do if you couldn’t see it! Some people believe the military has been working on making jets invisible using cloaking technology.
NOW FOR SOME UNDRAMATIC “SKY ROAR” VIDEOS
There are lots of “sky roar” vids floating around at the moment. None are that great but basically they tell us either people are filming them more or they’re happening more frequently. I can’t say which. I’ve found so many of these I’m just going to post a few that are actually audible. Most of the videos have people chiming in saying they too are hearing these low flying jet noises. Turn up your volume!
From the description:
I can tell you, I do live relatively close to the city of Pittsburgh… But it doesn’t sound this loud in my driveway during rush hour. I have no idea what these strange sounds were. I’ve been at this address for over 3 years and have not experienced anything like it.
An unexplained sky boom occurred in the Puna area of Hawaii on the morning of February 22nd. The below video features interviews with many local witnesses. Pay no attention to the title of this reuploaded video as it is not the “sound of the Apocalypse”. (I’ll see you in 2013.) Sigh… do read on.
“We heard a big boom. The biggest boom I ever heard and it came from the Kahaualea direction. The biggest boom I ever heard and it was worse than putting dynamite in a cesspool,” saidresident named “Pirate”.
“I heard a big explosion and the windows rattled here, and then I thought uh oh another earthquake but then nothing else happened after that,” said another resident.
They heard the explosion and the ground also shook, and yet the Hawaii County Civil Defense says the incident cannot be explained. USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory has offered no explanation. Police and fire department did an investigation and found no source. The original news article is here.
This seems very similar to the recent booms being attributed to fireballs (meteors). These fireballs have been causing loud sonic booms recently, however, there are no reports of meteors that I can find. A reader comment from the news article says:
There was no way in hell that was a sonic boom! I thought it was an Earthquake at first then after a while realized that the sound was much too loud and the vibration from the Explosion was way different then a normal earthquake.
I found and article at USGS here that mostly talks about the great volcanic explosion of Krakatau in 1883. The sound was so loud it could be heard 3000 miles away! Doesn’t this make the earth seem tiny? According to the article, volcanic explosions don’t normally happen in Hawaii because the lava is a type that allows the release of volcanic gases. So this probably rules out a volcano. Or does it?
I noticed Mr. Pirate says the explosion came from the direction of Kahaualea Forest Reserve. This is also the direction of a currently erupting volcano known as Puu Oo Volcano which is nearby. It’s been erupting since 1983.
What I can’t understand is that no one, including the interviewed residents, seems to be mentioning any connection between the volcano and this sound. It would imply this boom really isn’t normal and hasn’t been heard before. I can’t imagine it’s not somehow related, especially in a region with frequent earthquakes.
Unfortunately, there aren’t many convincing videos out there at the moment. The ones I’ve found are falling into two distinct categories. The first half are hoaxes. Frauds have decided the Kiev sound dub isn’t being believed anymore so they’ve switched to using any weird machine or sound dub they can find. This is making my job extremely difficult. The second half is promising, but just not good enough. I’m finding tons of videos that aren’t hoaxes, but the sound quality is too poor to discuss here. The ones I’ve found have very subtle ongoing jet noises in the background and some even have other sounds mixed in. They’re very subtle though. To really excite us we need to see more videos like the Lafayette Indiana post below.
So given the absence of anything convincing out there at the moment, I’m going to provide some articles that are very useful in our strange sound discoveries.
JUST WHAT I WAS WONDERING MYSELF!: FIREBALLS ARE BEHAVING STRANGELY There seem to be lots of fireballs being recorded lately and they have booms. I’ve been noticing many news clips popping up about the incidents.
According to this article here, What’s Up with All the Weird Meteors Lately?, the recent meteors we’ve been seeing are behaving strangely. From the article:
According to Peter Brown, a meteor expert and physics professor at the University of Western Ontario, this is atypical meteoric behavior — even for a fireball: “These fireballs are particularly slow and penetrating,” Brown explained to NASA’s Tony Phillips. “They hit the top of the atmosphere moving slower than 15 km/s, decelerate rapidly, and make it to within 50 km of Earth’s surface.”
There is also a very good video of one of these slow burning fireballs in the article. Check out the post about the one from Texas which features a slow, booming fireball here.
In fact, there are more fireballs this time of year. From this NASA article, Spring is Fireball Seasonhere:
“Spring is fireball season,” says Bill Cooke of NASA’s Meteoroid Environment Center. “For reasons we don’t fully understand, the rate of bright meteors climbs during the weeks around the vernal equinox.”
A few weeks ago in South Carolina a fireball also made a loud noise. Video below:
NIGHT TIME BUZZ: DERRY, IRELAND FOLKS CAN’T SLEEP A local news source (here) reports that residents of Derry, Ireland are experiencing strange sky noise. Some speculate the cause is military, but the timing isn’t matching up. A local authority says:
“I have received a number of calls from concerned residents who have been unsettled and whose sleeping pattern is being affected by what can only be described as a relentless and disturbing buzzing noise in the Derry sky over recent days.”
Interestingly, just last month residents fled from their homes after hearing loud explosions. See here. So far it seems to be unexplained. From the article:
Yates said the explosion was heard all over the city on Tuesday. “It shook houses, shook windows and was heard as far as City of Derry airport.
You can’t even hear what these people are saying. In really extreme “sky roar” videos, we’ll sometimes see people talking loud while describing the event. I haven’t seen a roar at this volume before. The way they’re panning the camera around it would seem they’re looking for the source. At one point you see a hand pointing at the sky, but you can’t hear what they’re saying.
They say it sounded like fighter jets and there is no military base nearby. They say it lasted an hour. This is about the average length of these “sky roars”. Compare this to the high production video from Oklahoma here. His event was loud too.
A remarkable thing about this example is a direction. They say it’s only in one area of the sky which is where they pointed the camera. This is the first time I’ve ever heard anyone say this. This is a sound from a single direction, lasting an hour, and nothing is seen.
They panned around and there is nothing that could make that kind of noise near them. Or is there?
I think this picture to the right is a grain silo. Is it a factory? Anyone care to guess. They say a neighbor told them the sound was caused by two “smoke stacks” from a factory. These don’t appear to be smoke stacks. They dismiss this as saying it could never be that loud because they could hear it in their bedroom. I would have to agree. This is LOUD. It’s right on top of their house. It’s deafening.
Be sure to look at the Arizona video where a jet sound is explained away as being from “smoke stacks” here.
Filmed in Tampa, probably on the 16th, this pitch black video above has some eerie background noise. The description just says “I didn’t think these noises were real till I heard them myself. Strap up people.” To me it sounds a lot like wind and yet it doesn’t. The witness says there are no interstates or traffic around him. At one point it sounds like he’s urinating in a bucket.
The first thing I do when I find a video that may or may not be real is to look for a matching video from the same time and area. And voila, a match appeared.
This one below was filmed in Hollywood, Florida which is around 260 miles away. The thing the two have in common is the date. This video was recorded in a park behind a railroad station. The witness was waiting for a train and says no one was around. He says it was a clear day and sounded like thunder. I’m not sure if this is a match to the one above or not. I’m not even sure it’s real. It’s included because of the date and location (state) matching with the other.
At first I had no idea what I was looking at with the strange words “trial version need4video.com” right in the middle. Either the trial version adds colors to video or this guy got carried away with the options. He explains that he downloaded video editing software for free and because it’s free they stick their website in the middle.
He explains in the description:
I pulled my cellphone cam but I didn’t really hear the details until I played the video at home, it was totally weird but it distorted too much at high volume so I used freeby codex converter to wmv to allow me to boost the volume by using a compressor/limiter with minimum distortion.
So we really aren’t hearing what he supposedly heard. He may have heard something, but it’s manipulated in an attempt to boost the sound. I’d love to see raw unedited footage, but I’m not sure its worth it.
Okay, something is weird here. Let’s start with the titles. The first one is called:
Strange sounds in Hollywood, Fl. 02/16/2012 by saucerfly
2/18/2012 Weird atmosphere noises in Tampa, FL by elador21
Isn’t it weird the way the titles seem similar?
Now look at the tags:
Strange sounds 2012
Atmosphere noises 2012
Hmmmm. I’m not sure what to make of this. Are they the same people? If so why would they do this?
I know I said I didn’t want to make any ufo connections but I’ve decided when weird lights appear nearby I’m going to include them. Especially this time because once again we have the weird cluster lights as we saw in Phoenix here. At one point in this video below from Homestead, Florida on Feb 16th, they say “can you hear it?” The response was “Maybe it’s a plane that just blew up or something.” A plane appears after the lights fade and they say it seems to be searching. Other people recorded this too. See here and here.

INSERT 1/21: As I expected, the Golden Knights have once again taken credit. In my opinion they need to stop doing these jumps with flares unless it’s an air show. I can’t see any reason to strap on flares and jump at night. Is this a new thing? It sure is happening a lot and every other night. There is no reason I can think of that they should’ve started doing this every night. It’s always going to upset people and it’s not impressive anyway.
——
The thing about these types of “ufos” is they’re often attributed to parachuter’s with flares. These flare jumpers seem to be doing this every night and every time people see weird lights it’s officially explained away as performers called the Golden Knights. A military person commenting on my post about strange lights in Phoenix doesn’t believe these are flares. Here is a video of the parachuters. Not sure they’re the same.
And if you follow ufo sightings at all, Chinese lanterns are usually to blame. These don’t seem like lanterns either.
This video above was posted by a YT account named MonarchButterflyKiss. They say they received it via email from a man in McAlester, Oklahoma.
—
Insert: This guy is a musician represented by Angst Ridden Records and Magick Mirror Media who owns the MonarchButterflyKiss YT channel. Videos of his performances are in this black and white style and he also does some commentaries. This explains why it’s so nicely recorded. Some of his videos are rather bizarre. This casts doubt on this “strange sound” video. But someone experiencing a true sky event with this kind of filming background is more likely to actually record it. I still think it’s real because it’s a lot like many of the other “sky roar” type videos. I am not sure how one could fake a constant jet sound that loud. I tried to think of a machine that one could use. It would have to be enormous to be that loud. I’m just raising doubts here as I always do when something seems real.
—
The guy in the video claims to have seen videos on YT and he tells us he thinks most of them are fake. He says this one is not fake. I think it would be very hard to hoax a “sky roar”. This sounds VERY atmospheric to me. We hear it in his apartment before he opens the door.
He opens the door and it’s an extreme constant jet roar. It seems to surround and I don’t think speakers would be loud enough to create this (maybe). You can tell it’s really outside and very loud as demonstrated by him going back into his apartment. Seems convincing. If it’s real we haven’t seen roaring this loud since this video here.
I think if he were going to fake it he wouldn’t have bothered talking about YT videos. He did this so perfectly however, it makes me think he saw my post on how to film a sky event here. What people don’t realize is this post is a trap. If it’s followed I can more easily tell if someone is faking.
The reason I searched for Oklahoma videos was because of this reader comment:
Several people in the Oklahoma City area were awakened/disturbed by a low speed rumbling almost like the flame coming out of a hot air balloon type sound that seemed almost to slowly creap across town and it would stop and start up again every 3-5 minutes in bursts that are not typical of what you would hear if it were thunder or a high flying jet overhead hence why I considered the hot air balloon scenario but to hear it it two different parts of the city almost simultaniously about 20-35 miles from each other was spooky.
Are they describing an Oshawa type sound!? See Oshawa videos here. The “snoring” noise could be described as a hot air ballon sound.
This essay is an unscientific attempt to offer information about CMEs, solar flares and strange sounds, in the simplest of terms. Please forgive me if I oversimplify the possibilities of the connection.
There is much talk about coronal mass ejections (CMEs) causing strange sounds. A CME is defined as solar wind, plasma and magnetic fields from the sun. These are injected into space by the sun and are believed to originate from sunspots associated with frequent solar flares. See more here.
The earth is surrounded by something called the magnetosphere. Solar winds energize particles in this magnetic field that stimulate molecules and result in auroras. Auroras produce beautiful bands of color that can be seen in the North and South poles of the Earth.
Okay that wasn’t easy. I tried to break it down in the simplest of terms and if I forgot something, you get the gist anyway. Read more at the Geophysical Institute in Alaska here.
Now that we know the effect of CMEs on the Earth we can look at an event that occurred in 1859. According to the video below, filmed with NASA-Goddard astronomer, Sten Odenwald, the Earth has seen some spectacular effects of CMEs in the past.
In September of 1859, a clipper ship, in rough seas off the coast of Chile, experienced auroras of blood red accompanied by crimson lights. Even compasses ceased to work. They survived, but upon their return they discovered these strange skys covered two-thirds of the world.
Around this time, amateur astronomer Richard Carrington (here) observed sunspots that produced an enormous solar flare. The flare was ten times the diameter of the earth. As a result, auroras were seen over a great portion of the earth.
The electrical charge of this CME disrupted communications via telegraph around the world. The paper of the telegraph machines actually burned. When they cut power to the machines they continued to function solely on the electric charges surging through the air. This would be akin to the internet being disrupted due to the same cause. The largest flares recorded recently aren’t half the size of the one from the Carrington event. Scientists are confident we’ll experience such a disruption in the future. See more here.
A terrific and not boring video below describes the Carrington Event, auroras and CMEs.
Solar activity spikes within an eleven year cycle. We are currently within this cycle. There has been much solar activity recently, but this February 14th event has scientists scratching their heads.
A magnetic disturbance without a solar flare created spectacular auroras. This was created without an uptick in solar activity.
“Sometimes the sky surprises us,” astronomer Tony Phillips wrote on Spaceweather.com. “On Feb. 14-15, with little warning, geomagnetic activity rippled around the Arctic Circle, producing an outbreak of auroras that veteran observers said was among the best in months.”
The below video shows the incredible auroras that were recorded during this February 14th event.
Now let’s get to the business of an association of CMEs with “strange sounds”. Can “strange sounds” be heard? Yes and no.
You may recall yesterday’s post about “sky roars” in Dallas here. I had a spike in my WordPress stats with search terms for “weird noises” and “booms” in Dallas on the 14th. Well amazingly, and this is the point of this blog, reader sammygirly sent me a link to a sky event video from Fort Worth. The date on this video is from February 13th. It’s not an explosion but a “sky roar”. How bizarre is it that we have a “sky roar” the night before “explosion” sounds on the 14th. According to a reader comment from yesterday, the sound went from a boom to a jet noise. Interesting!
From the reader comments yesterday:
I live in Dallas, and while I did not hear the noise on the 13th, (sleeping), I DID hear a similar “roar” yesterday (2/14) around 8 or 9pm … (snip)… I assumed it was someone rolling their trash bin to the alley, but the sound lasted far too long, and trash pick-up is thursday. I thought then it might have been thunder; we were expecting rain the next day. The sound seemed too strange for that, either. … (snip)… It was as if bombs were going off in the distance. I’ve never heard anything like this. It seemed to be a mixture of sounds: fireworks, thunder, a trash bin being rolled, an airplane roar.
The noise continued for about 5 minutes straight, then it suddenly stopped, like it had been shut-off. It was then that the roar of the airplanes (usually constantly) flying over head became audible–and was distinctly different from what my neighbor and I had heard.
Read the rest of the above comment from yesterday’s post.
So we have made a HUGE discovery! Sky booms and constant jet noises “sky roars” are related. Wow.
The witness says he and his brother thought it was an airplane, but thought it was strange so they recorded it. It started at 10:10pm and ended at 10:47pm.
While they do label it the cliche “Strange Sounds, etc.”, they have crazy unrelated search terms. I’m pretty sure this is real. It’s got that weird pulsating echo that good sky roar videos have. It’s too bad it’s so short.
This one below is from October and it has the same pulsating jet sound. Compare the two.
Insert 2/17: Something to consider before continuing. If you’re prone to panic and don’t like the unexplained, or if you need answers like air shows, factory valves or fireworks, please stop reading now. This blog isn’t for you. Close the page and satisfy yourself with any answer you choose. I don’t have the answers and claim nothing. I just record videos, articles and statements without conclusions. This site has NEVER said the end is here and never will. We’re just talking about weird phenomena based on presented evidence.
