Que the X-Files theme. The music might actually be appropriate this time.
I realize we’ve already discussed the Oshawa incident but I somehow overlooked this video (complete with sniffles). Read this post for background here. From the Youtube description:
Oshawa, Ontario, Canada 5am, bored on the computer. and then this weird sound, kinda like waves hitting rocks, starts happening consistantly… tell me its fake and idc, i have over 200 witness’s confirming this happened.
Oh, it happened alright. What’s amazing is that we get to hear the noise loud and clear. It almost sounds like a heavy chain being dragged across a floor. Creepy as hell. In the other videos the “snoring” does sound like snoring. Not in this video. This implies that either the other videos had terrible sound quality, or this recording above is close to the source. It’s one weird noise and if you listen closely it actually echoes, which is something we can’t hear in the other Oshawa, Malaysia or Swedish videos.
I revisited the Durham Radio page here and they still haven’t updated it with an explanation. If you read the comments on that page, witnesses claim it was heard within a huge area. Poor cashcleaner even found this video above and commented that it was the steel mill. Cashcleaner also commented on the Durham Radio page.
Some of you had pointed out a possible solar flare connection. According to this January 23rd, Denver Post article here, the worst solar storm since 2005 hit the earth. The flare occurred at 11pm, Sunday the 22nd. The sound was heard by witnesses from 3:30am to 5:00am on the 23rd. That’s only four and a half hours later. This is a bit too much of a coincidence in my opinion.
MORE AFTER THE JUMP…
So, let’s look at what we have. We have a solar storm that coincides perfectly with the Oshawa event. If so why was it in a specific area? Have people heard this before? This type of solar storm happened in 2005 and I think people would’ve recalled. We have a redacted statement from Durham Radio. This could be because the source was mistakenly identified previously. We have cashcleaner who ran around to every video on Youtube explaining it away as the source definitely being a steel mill. Then turn around and say it wasn’t that after all. Perhaps cashcleaner just thought it was coming from those places, but it was really from above.
I just wanted to share this video with you because it’s the first time we’ve been able to hear what this “snoring” really sound like up close.

I read that it takes just 8 minutes for solar flares to reach the earth’s atmosphere from the sun so 4 hours seems long but maybe that’s how long it takes for them to translate or convert into audible sounds? very interesting, thanks for making that connection!
Yes I saw that too. But still the timing is very close.
oh silly me i think i read it somewhere on this blog itself or saw it in one of the videos you posted hehe
It takes 8 minutes for the light to come from the Sun to Earth. Not the charged particles of a CME. Those need several hours to some days depending on the energy of the CME (there are fast and slow CMEs according to if their initial particle speed is higher or lower than the Solar Wind speed.)
ahhh thanks for the info!
Interesting points regarding timing- ratio seems to be 3 second gaps, two seconds of sound…Like the calculation for the distance of a thunderstorm- Divide the number of seconds (from the flash to the boom) by 5 to calculate the distance in miles (or divide by 3 for kilometers)…
If we applied the same calculation, then the origin of the sound would be 5 miles away or 1.666 km away- however, this is for a light effect, not sound- and I think you’d need to measure the Db level in order to establish the distance travelled by the sound- those with better maths skills might be able to help here?
Sorry, just found this for measuring distance using echoes, but the theory is useable I think (need to measure air temperature too)-
‘If you want to be as accurate as possible you will need to start with the temperature of the air. Once you know the temperature of the air you plug it in to this formula:
V = 331 √1 + (T/273)
V is the velocity of sound in air at temperature T in degrees Celsius.
Now that you know how fast sound will travel through the air at the current temperature, measure the time it takes for the sound to be transmitted and the echo received. Take that number and plug it in to this formula:
V = m/s or Velocity = meters/seconds
From that we get:
Distance = Velocity/time
Divide the distance in half and you have your distance from the object which the echo bounced off of.’

IT ALSO occurs to me that this is the same principle used in SONAR…maybe the aliens are scanning our planet with soundwaves! (Sarc/off- I hope not!)
You can’t apply any of these calculations mate cause you don’t have a starting event (the flash you mentioned for the storms) and the echoes may come from everywhere.
These sounds, if from the sky, then they are produced somewhere close to the ground and possibly by several different source in the area.
If the reason behind the sounds is Brush Discharge then the source may be a whole forest, or some buildings, or a mountain, or some industrial area with high towers and antennas, or any thing close to the ground that can cause a electrostatic discharge.

But I’m liking how yer thinking, Incubus. I’m itching to apply a mathamatical formula to this thing, or at least get a written drawing of the sound wave/frequency of these sky roars.
They have acoustical equiptment for song bird analysis and other animal calls. There is a bioacoustics lab at cornell where they graph out song birds and other animal calls for identification.
What if we contacted them for a graphing of our “sky roars,” maybe three of the very best videos for this?
If we could get an acoustic “signature,” that might give us a lot of clues, as well as weed out fakes in the process.
You know, I feel very strongly that you have hit the proverbial nail on the head! I think you have found a concrete answer to all of the sounds worldwide: solar activity. It is a fact that the sun has been doing some crazy stuff for the past year, lots of crazy stuff. I feel it is what is causing all the increased-strength quakes, volcano activity, flooding, mass dead animals, falling space junk and other strange earth changes, the sounds included. Now the bigger question is, why is the sun doing this? Is something perturbing the sun? Or is it just the way it is for the sun and it will eventually stop?
Well the sun has been doing it’s thing for millions of years so I doubt it’s doing anything different. Perhaps creates strange events in cycles.
Yes I think perhaps it has this crazy amped up solar activity ever several thousand years for whatever reason…perhaps the last time it behaved this way was Noah’s flood…I do think it is the cause of the sounds though, whatever may be going on with it.
I suspect and hope you are right. I like natural explanations.
